Where To Go ATV-ing in St George

If you were to ask me where are some best places to go riding your ATV in the southern Utah, St George area I would quickly have to ask you which kind of riding would you prefer? Would you rather go screaming over sand with a quad that has paddles on it? If so then look no further than Sand Hollow State Park. Sand Hollow is best know for it’s skiing and wakeboarding, but sitting right next to it is some of the best sand in southern Utah to ride on. The scene is beautiful as well as you begin to climb higher and higher you’ll soon be greeted by an impressive view not only of the lake, but the surrounding Pine Valley mountains. They are impressive towering peaks that frame the picture of red sand and blue water. Sand Hollow is without a doubt one of my favorite places to ride my quad. Dixie National Forest

But if it’s mountains and trails your after then you’ll need to make your way up Highway 14 and into the Dixie National forest. That’s where the majority of long trails that wind through massive pines and overlook stunning lakes like Navajo Lake. There is a trail system that’s been created that shows you that there are miles and miles of territory for you to see.

Kolob Reservoir

If you’d like to combine mountains with lakes then Kolob Reservoir is a great place to ride as well. There are fewer set trails but there are multiple places to ride all while soaking in that mountain air and the stunning scene that is Kolob Reservoir. If you’re into fishing this spot would become even more ideal for you.

Smith Mesa

But in truth there is one trail that is one of my favorites in all of southern Utah, and that’s Smith Mesa. There are a handful of ways to get to it, but the way that I get to it is there is a road just before getting to Springville that heads up a windy narrow road that gets you up on top of a small mesa. Once you’re up on top you’ll have to head to the right and then find a place to upload your ATV’s and then head east. It won’t take you long to find the trail. What I love about this trail is the fact that there are several vantage points that will beckon you to stop and look over the stunning landscape below you. The view will make you wish you were geologist as the stark changes in geology before your eyes will make you incredibly curious.

These are just a handful of the four wheeler trails you can find near Zion National Park. Hopefully you’ll be able to get out and ride some of these places sooner rather than later.
