Had the chance to go boating at Quail Lake this week and just had a great time. Quail Lake sits right next to Sand Hollow reservoir, and although it gets a little overshadowed by Sand Hollow, it is just a great lake to visit. It’s beautiful with the towering rock canyons that surround much of the lake.
It’s also a much quieter and laid back reservoir in comparison. So if it’s calm waters you’re after then add Quail Lake to the list, as with less boats it means less choppy water to try to wakeboard on.
There are numerous places to camp at Quail as well, it doesn’t have the sandy beaches that Sand Hollow does, but it also doesn’t have the swimmers itch that Sand Hollow gets either (Quail is slightly more acidic than Sand Hollow so the swimmers itch can’t live there).
