Kolob Canyons in Zion National Park

Kolob Canyon north section of Zion National ParkKolob Canyon north section of Zion National ParkIf you want to visit Zion National Park but seek a less-crowded alternative than the Zion Canyon area, go to the Kolob Canyons section instead. Located right off Interstate 15's exit 40, this northwestern corner of the park is an incredible collection of narrow "finger" canyons and towering red sandstone monoliths. It includes a small visitor center, a five-mile scenic drive with many scenic pullouts, and three major hiking trails. Kolob Canyons is home to Kolob Arch, one of the longest spanning natural arches in the world.

Tip: Visiting Kolob Canyons is best in the afternoon, when the sun illuminates the enormous sandstone monoliths, creating spectacular color, which enhances photo opportunities.
