St. George Temple. The ground breaking ceremony
for the St. George Temple was held on November 9,
1871. 5 1/2 years later the Temple was finished
and dedicated on April 6th 1877. Since that time,
members of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day
Saints have come from great distances to visit the
temple. There is also a visitors center open to
the public with more information about the building
and what members of the church use the Temples for.

Zion National Park. Only 45 minutes away
from St. George is Zion
National Park (an awesome spectacle of towering
cliffs and incredible gorges). The Paiutes called
it makuntuweap, meaning "straight canyon."
Zion National Park is one of the most popular visitor
attractions in the state, with some 2.5 million
people coming to Zion each year. Driving and bicycling
along the paved roads are popular ways to see the
park, but the best way to become really familiar
with it is to hike in the narrow side canyons or
up to one of Zion’s famous rock "temples" on any
of the many trails. Be sure to visit the Zion Canyon
Cinamax Theater just outside the south entrance
to the park in Springdale for an incredible look
at Zion’s majesty and it’s unique history on a screen
six stories high. The Film shows daily beginning
half past the hour. |

Tuacahn. Each summer the Tuacahn Center for
the Arts offers world-class entertainment in the
outdoor amphitheater at the mouth of Snow Canyon
State Park. The amphitheater has 2,000 seats and
offers 1,500 foot sandstone cliffs as a back-drop.

Snow Canyon State Park. Snow Canyon is a
popular destination for those looking for trails
to hike, cliffs to rappel, climbing the face of
the cliffs, or just camping. Snow Canyon is located
just 15 minutes from St. George on U-18, or enter
the park near Ivins just 10 minutes south of St.

Quail Creek State Park is home to the
Quail Lake Reservoir where people come to
swim, fish, water ski, jet ski, scuba dive,
camp or just stop by for a picnick by the
water. Quail Creek State Park is only about
15 minutes Northeast of St. George. |
