According to the US Census Bureau in
2005 St. George was the second fastest
growing metropolitan area in the country.
People are coming here from all over the
country, particularly from Southern California
and Northern Utah. Californians are coming
here to escape the crowded and populated
cities of that area while Northern Utahns
come here to escape harsh winter weather.
Beautiful red desert scenery, warm winters,
and year round recreational fun are some
of the most important factors in creating
the quality of life that attract people
to here.
As residential real estate booms -- as seen in the annual Parade of Homes, so
is commercial real estate. While lodging
and tourist related businesses are strong,
other sectors of the economy are growing
stronger as the rapidly growing population
brings more commercial diversity. Educational
and industrial facilities in the area
are growing, and this further attracts
businesses to here.
