Skiing

Despite what you may think, the temperate climate of southern Utah offers downhill skiing opportunities. The altitudes of several area mountains allow for great ski courses. Cross country skiing and snow shoeing are also enjoyed in the area.

Southern Utah is beautiful year round, but it has a distinct image during the winter. You will enjoy seeing red, snowcapped mountains because you will not likely see such a scene elsewhere.

While all this may seem surprising, the climate does offer some advantages. For instance, mild winters in towns like St. George allow people to ski and golf during the same day. Also, compared to many other areas, there is little air pollution.

Zion Ponderosa sits at the base of the Dixie National Forest winter recreation area. We offer guided snowmobile tours, cross country skiing and downhill skiing.
Pinewoods Resort
In winter this high plateau offers the most reliable snow and longest season in the southwest United States. Its hills and valleys provide the ultimate in diverse terrain and scenic beauty. The endless meadows become playgrounds and the logging roads and forest trails provide corridors to numerous exciting scenic destinations.

Our winters are splendid, with about 450 inches of light Utah powder decorating the spruce, pine and fir trees and providing more than enough snow for winter sport activities. BRIAN HEAD - We're far enough away to be a vacation, but close enough to be in your own backyard.
