Because golf rates are subject to change, it is best to call and verify current golf prices.

Dixie Red Hills was the first golf course developed by the City of St. George. Red Hills opened for play in the mid-1960s and, because of its spectacular red rock setting and playability, has been the favorite of recreational golfers ever since. Red Hills is a 9-hole par-34 layout that meanders around the sandstone cliffs of "Utah's Dixie." This golfer-friendly course also features hundreds of mature Cottonwoods, Mondale Pines, Mesquite, and other trees that provide ample shade during St. George's warmer months.

Each hole is quite distinct and will leave a lasting memory in the minds of golfers. Three holes that will stand out most are #1, #3, and #6. The first hole at Red Hills is a short, up-hill par four. From the tee it appears quite innocuous. But if you are lucky enough to get past the huge red rock sentry located in the fairway adjacent to the green, your worries have just begun.

The first green features three tiers separated by three-foot slopes just waiting to frustrate even the best of players. The third hole is the only par-five at Red Hills. It is basically a semi-circle around imposing sand stone cliffs.

If you could tee off directly toward the green, the hole would be no more than a par three. This hole finishes with a huge two-tiered green bordered on each side by hungry bunkers. Hole number six is the last of Red Hills' three par-three holes. Although less than 150 yards, the forced carry over an inviting crystal-blue lake provides more than enough challenge. This is one of the most picturesque holes in the region. Golfers often talk about being addicted to the game. once you play Dixie Red Hills, you to will understand the game's allure!

Entrada (Spanish for "entrance") sits at the foot of jagged Navajo and Kayenta sandstone cliffs near the mouth of Snow Canyon. Rolling Dunes, ancient black lava beds and winding arroyos mark this chaotic landscape in St. George, Utah, just a two-hour drive from Las Vegas.

A sense of time and place have converged at Entrada, where water, wind, and the forces of time have left an artful impression. The course is built upon 710 acres of strikingly beautiful southwest Utah desert. Opened in September 1996, the spectacular Johnny Miller Signature Golf Course is the featured amenity of the Entrada development.

Entrada was recently named by Golf Digest as one of the top ten new public upscale golf courses in 1997. Designed to offer golfers of every skill level an unforgettable world class golf experience, this par 72 golf course plays a challenging 7,280 yards from the championship tees. "The varied terrain and the incredible vistas will make this one of the most exciting golf courses in the entire country.", said Johnny Miller.

Southgate is a favorite among retired players because of its laid back feel. This 6,100-yard par-70 layout features two distinctly different nines. The front side is relatively flat and cris-crosses the lazy Santa Clara river. Although not a long course, with eight of the nine holes requiring shots over or around water, golfers must bring their "straight-shooting" clubs.

Five holes on the front nine have been redesigned over the past two years. The favorite hole here is the newly remodeled par-four seventh. After a tee shot that must avoid the river on the right and out-of-bounds on the left, players must hit an approach shot over a lake to an undulating green with water right and two deep grass bunkers behind. The new seventh hole epitomizes Southgate's demand for accuracy. When playing the back nine at Southgate, bring your camera. These nine holes traverse along Tonaquint Mountain and provide awe-inspiring views of the St. George area. Again, this course is not overly long.

The key to successful navigation is keeping the ball in the fairway. As with most mountain courses, the greens on Southgate's back nine slope from back to front. Remember to always keep your approach shot below the hole and you will most likely end up with a scorecard worth showing off to your friends.

St. George Golf Club is the hidden gem of southwestern Utah golf. Prior to its operation by St. George City, this course was called Bloomington Hills. During those years, it struggled to mature. Over the past seven years, St. George Golf Club has become one of the outstanding golf courses in the state.

The appeal of St. George Golf Club is its beautiful terrain bordering the Ft. Pierce Wash. In keeping with the natural surroundings, this course features acres and acres of informal bunkers called "waste areas" that are actually anything but wasteful. They give the golfer the feeling of playing the exclusive courses in the Scottsdale area that are characterized by fairways cut right into the natural desert terrain.

The most memorable qualities of this layout are its challenging par three holes each requiring a tee shot over a lake, and the double green serving golfers playing both number nine and number eighteen. Finally, once you have completed your round, the breathtaking view of the golf course from the club house located atop a nearby bluff will entice you to spend a few extra minutes watching other players make their way around this beautiful playground of golf.

Golf Digest rates Sunbrook as the best golf course in Utah. This rating is a result of a number of elements including scenery, challenge, quality, and service. With the addition of the Black Rock Nine, Sunbrook is the only golf club in southwestern Utah to feature 27 championship holes.

If you were to poll golfers concerning which of the three nines they prefer, one third would say The Point Nine, one third would say The Woodbridge Nine, and one third would say the new Black Rock Nine. Each nine is named after its most identifiable feature. The Point's number five hole is a short par-four bordering a desert cliff. Any shot to the left on this hole will end up 100 feet down on the par-five second hole.

The Woodbridge Nine is also named after its fifth hole. After teeing off from a bluff overlooking the island-green fourth hole, golfers must carry a lake featuring a gorgeous country-style wooden bridge. This is one hole so beautiful you won't mind having to record a bogey on your scorecard. The Black Rock Nine is so named as a result of three holes being carved out of treacherous lava rock. The par-four seventh is the most remarkable. After hitting your first shot from a tee located amidst a crowd of molten onlookers, your second shot must carry more volcanic remains plus avoid a small lake strategically placed just to the right of the green.
