The centerpiece of this beautifully landscaped 10-acre plot in the heart of downtown is the six spired Salt Lake Temple. Also located on the square is the Tabernacle, home of the Mormon Tabernacle Choir, and the Assembly Hall where free concerts are given most weekends. Free tours are given daily starting every few minutes at the flagpole.

The Joseph Smith Memorial Building was named in honor of the first president of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. Formerly known as the Hotel Utah, this majestic building was constructed in 1911 and completely renovated in 1989. Free tours are available Mon.-Sat. The Family Search Center has a trained staff and 200 computers to introduce visitors to the excitement of discovering their ancestors. Free, open Mon.-Sat. Call (801) 240-4085, for more information.
