Not everything that happens in Las Vegas
stays in Las Vegas; a marriage performed
here is recognized throughout the world
(at least most of it). Getting married
is a popular thing to do when in Las Vegas.
Over 100,000 couples exchange vows each
year while here. Even celebrities -- like
heartthrob Elvis, Hollywood starlet Joan
Collins, basketball god Michael Jordan,
tough guy Clint Eastwood, diva Bette Midler,
and pop star Britney Spears -- get married
here. Hopefully, a wedding in Vegas will
lead to a long, happy marriage.
The great thing about Las Vegas is that
it is both a wedding and a honeymoon destination.
To complement over 30 wedding chapels
and companies which provide a full range
of services that cater to the whole spectrum
of weddings from posh to simple spontaneity,
the casinos of Las Vegas offer almost
limitless honeymoon options. Here, the
honeymoon can start as the couple walks
out of the chapel.
Nevada's state laws facilitate the wedding
bliss of Las Vegas. For instance, no blood
tests, no waiting period, and a fee of
only $55 draw many and help coax couples
who have that spur-of-the-moment whim
to say, "I do." Both parties
must register at the Clark
County Marriage Bureau (201 Clark
Avenue, Las Vegas, NV 89155-1603; (702)671-0600)
which open seven days a week from 8 AM
to midnight and 24 hours on holidays.
Many wedding chapels provide a limo service
to and from the Marriage Bureau to help
couples just that more.
