Kolob Canyon is one of the hidden gems in southern Utah. It’s part of Zion National Park, but it is accessed in a completely different place (along I-15 in-between Cedar City and St George Utah). It has what are called the 5 Fingers of which you can see 3 of them in this picture. The park has a drive that will stun you with her beauty.
There are several hikes you can do while there as well. Taylor Creek is a hike to a double arch that is relatively easy and awards you with a stacked arch that’s still forming, very picturesque.
The Hop Valley trail that takes you up to the Kolob Arch is one of the prettiest hikes in all of Utah. But is not for the faint of heart.
Kolob is a tremendous place to visit, so if you find yourself tooling down I-15 and see the turn off to Kolob, take it. You won’t be disappointed. And if you’re pressed for time just take a quick drive through it. When you reach the end look-off you’ll be so grateful you made the trip. As there you’ll be able to see all of the fingers in all of their glory.
