Good Zion Narrows photos
I came across a blog entry by Ian Plant this morning that spoke to me – both with its text and images. The content of the blog was about photographing the Zion Narrows – one of the hardest places, in my mind, to get a good photo on earth. Plant’s photos are amazing – all of them using the Narrows’ ever-changing light to best advantage plus the effect of the flowing water through a slower shutter speed. Let me tell you, I envy Plant for his skill. If you want to see some of the best images of the Narrows out there, click on the link to Plant’s blog.
I have hiked the entire length of the Narrows five times and have never taken a photo with which I was very happy. First off, I was not using the excellent equipment Plant obviously has. Secondly, I did not have the patience or composition skills that Plant obviously has. I am just starting to gain both better photography equipment, patience and photo composition skills, so the next time I hike the Narrows, whenever that may be, I hope to capture amazing images like Plant’s. I just hope I am with a group who is equally as patient, or perhaps I will have to do as most tourists do and hike up the Narrows from the Temple of Sinawava so that patience will not be at a premium.
